Small wedding ideas - downsize in style

Small and dreamy intimate wedding inspiration. Bringing the joy back in to weddings. A small wedding doesn’t mean that you can’t have the wedding of your dreams.

SMALL WEDDING IDEAS - THE LOCATION

An idyllic, country house nestled in the heart of the England, Flore House is a picturesque home plucked straight from the pages of a Jane Austen novel. It gives us a glimpse in to luxurious, high society living from a bygone age.

Stepping inside the house we knew straight away that it was the perfect location for our shoot. Through every door, a surprise waiting to be discovered, our own little private wonderland.

The light beaming across the hallway from the floor to ceiling windows felt magical, this house really does take your breath away. Each room seems to have its own individual story to tell with everything perfectly positioned, with care and attention, to let you effortlessly flick through the pages of this fairy tale.

From the grand staircase adorned with animal heads, lit by the opulent chandelier to the moody drawing room scattered with comfy sofas and plush cushions. The dining room then again provided another twist in the story and gave a soft, lightness to the wedding breakfast set-up.

Not only did we have the run of the gorgeous 17th Century house to play in, we also had the grounds to roam freely in. A mixture of pristine manicured gardens set against woods that lead out to the lake.

SMALL WEDDING IDEAS - THE INSPIRATION & STYLING

Muted tones in a gloriously luxurious setting with a modern day twist on hopeless romanticism.

Junie and I met on multiple occasions to plan this shoot and miraculously had come up with the same awe-inspiring vision…we’d even pinned the same ideas to our mood boards!

Our main inspiration was to create magic no matter what. Small intimate wedding, large grand affair, the inspiration that this shoot provides is endless. Regardless of the guest list, it’s still going to be one of the best days of your life and it HAS to be memorable.

Over-flowing with love, the balloons and flowers we’re set to spill out and cascade over the staircase and out of the windows and doors. Using a mixture of luscious greenery together with delicate dried flowers fitted in so well with the soft pastel shades.

A mix and match approach to the stationery and styling with monochrome accents gave it the modern twist we were trying to create. Everything tied in together perfectly from the florals dotted along the table length to the colour combinations used on each place setting. Texture was so important in this shoot but used very carefully throughout, soft and sleek coupled with ruched and feathered. Making sure that each piece had a purpose and a reason to be there.

SMALL WEDDING IDEAS - FASHION & BEAUTY

Choose a dress that you fall head over heels for and that makes you feel incredible. Although you may be limited on guest numbers to your wedding, you can, absolutely, still have the dress that you’ve always dreamed of.

The location leant itself perfectly to a grand dress with something a little bit special.

A Hayley Paige gown is something to be desired by so many brides and the Reagan gown definitely ‘ticks’ the special box. A ballgown silhouette in sandwashed orchid with all-over caviar beading. In this intricate technique the beading is so small that a needle is too large to fit through. The delicate floral patterns are adhered by hand and finished with a glitter edge to add a little sparkle. The illusion, sweetheart jewel neckline combines traditional techniques with a modern twist. The boned bodice provides support with delicate spaghetti straps and a low back. The subtlety of the colours shines through in this dress against the intense backdrop of Flore House.

Hair & makeup were effortless. A perfectly, imperfect, curled up-do with beautiful, delicate floral pins elegantly framed Rosie’s face. While her bridal look makeup bought a flawless definition to the loving gaze in her eyes as she walked down the staircase toward Nathan. Giving Rosie and natural yet radiant glow.

Nathan’s suit, his own from their wedding a year ago, looked smart and stylish and the perfect colour combo alongside Rosie’s dress. A real life, ‘model couple’ if I ever saw one.

SMALL WEDDING IDEAS - ANYTHING ELSE…

This shoot was such a wonderful chance for incredible wedding suppliers to come together and do what we all love best, weddings! We had an amazing time throughout the creation of this from concept right through to writing this. The emotion that we all felt on the day was oh so real for so many reasons. We kept Rosie and Nathan apart while they were both getting ready which then had us all, including Nathan, in tears as Rosie walked down the staircase to meet her groom. The excitement that then continued throughout the day was palpable and something really special to be a part of.

We’re so happy to be able to share this joyful occasion with you and hope that you love it as much as we do.
